Welcome to Fox and the Wolf

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, a curious fox and a lonely wolf became the best of friends. They played and they played and then one day they realized that even though she was a fox and he was a wolf, they could still grow old together and do all the things that foxes and wolves do. So they went and did all their favorite things, ate all of their favorite things, raised a pack of their own and lived happily ever after.

That is the tale of the Fox and the Wolf. Before I dive into why we created Fox and the Wolf, I wanted to share a few thoughts first.

If you are reading this and we know each other, I hope you know how much we appreciate your support and encouragement you’ve given us over the years. This website and blog wouldn’t be possible without you.

On the other hand, if we haven’t met before, we welcome you and thank you for stopping by to share in what we do. My name is Dave Parsons. My wife Serena and I started planting the seeds for Fox and the Wolf Crafts in the summer of 2014 and have been working on getting it to the point of launch since. That’s years of learning, testing product and business planning and it’s been an exhausting few years of invested time and money to get our candles down pat. Needless to say, this is an exciting time for us!

But to give you a little background on us, I’m an artist, aspiring writer, music producer and photographer who likes to spin fire, grow plants and do yard work. Serena is a professional photographer, graphic designer, makeup artist and hair stylist who enjoys belly dancing and fire fans, reading and writing fiction and playing video games.

I know that’s a lot of things and it sounds like we’re spread too thin, but we’ve had over 30 years to practice and develop our many interests into frequent hobbies, and now into our livelihoods. It didn’t take us long to figure out that all of these skills and hobbies that we enjoy every day kinda jive with one another and once we realized that, we started working towards merging our passions into something that is more uniquely us. Something that fully takes advantage of all of our skill sets AND our passions.

That’s what we created this website for. It’s a central hub for us to share all of our art, candles, handmade decor, jewelry and creative educational articles in one place that isn’t spread out across 5 social media platforms. Without this site, you’d have to follow all of our social media accounts to see everything we’re up to. But here, we can keep everything organized and permanent. While we do plan to continue photographing weddings for the foreseeable future, our immediate goal is to use this new platform to express our passions separately from our wedding business and offer valuable resources for those who would like to learn how to do the things we like to do, including photography.

Subscribing to our blog will give you a heads up in your email whenever we post new content, videos, tutorials and/or new handmade art and decor. If you are wondering what subjects we’ll actually be blogging about, Serena and I are contributing to the blog separately, with credits on each blog so you know who wrote which ones. There will be a variety of topics covered. Serena will soon be offering makeup and hair artistry services and tutorials, photography education, providing graphic design and social media marketing services and tips for small businesses. I’ll be blogging about candle making, discussing the tools and methods that I try out, sharing music, film projects and tutorials that I make for various activities. I’ll also be sharing some of my personal craft projects and giving behind the scenes looks at the processes behind everything I create. We figured we already have the cameras and can’t shoot weddings right now, so we might as well create some content for everyone. As you can tell, I am a pretty wordy writer so I need somewhere other than social media to really break down ideas, philosophies and processes down to their fundamentals and work back up from there. You really can’t do that in a Facebook post, so I am really excited to start sharing more long form content with everyone, for those who like to follow my Face“books” lol.

We are both writing classes for professional and hobbyist photographers that will become available soon. That’s something we’ve been working on for years and are super excited to announce that we will be offering those courses soon. I’ll be offering digital drawing courses in different styles and subjects, which is really exciting for me because I stopped drawing for such a long time when we were growing Serena Star Photography and Avid Wolf Music. I thought I would never get back into drawing, but here I am. Drawing, passionately and doing all the things. Look at me go lol.

I’ve had this dream my entire life. I’ve always wanted to get to a point in my life where I could practice my crafts and help others learn how to harness their own inner creativity. I love learning but find teaching equally satisfying. I believe in community over competition and sharing experiences over hoarding the lessons we learn for ourselves.

If you’ve ever read anything I’ve ever written, you know that I desperately love to write. This is my new place to get it all out, without putting it into a book on Facebook. If you follow us, I hope that by sharing our journey with you and vise versa, we are able to inspire each other to create all the things that set us on fire on the inside.

Fox and the Wolf was created to share our art and interests with the world, regardless of what form it takes. We are so appreciative for all of the continued support of our clients, friends, family, coworkers and fans over the years. We love you all and not only was this site created for you, it’s only because of you that any of this is possible. We will no longer allow our passions to wither away and die. It’s our mission to release that energy into the world for you all to enjoy.

We’d love to see you stick around for the ride! Please subscribe to our blog to receive email updates on what we are up to so that we don’t have to rely 100% on social media algorithms to keep our friends and fans in the loop. Thank you again and we can’t wait to see where this goes!
